• Breaking into a curtain-sided vehicle requires no great skill — merely a sharp knife which will cut through it like butter. Unless, that is, they are Coverguard curtains lined with Armoramp (a tape laminated with insulated wires). Cutting through these will set off the alarm siren.
Once closed, the curtains are also wired into the system so any attempt to open them will have the same effect.
In the case of a trailer the system is concealed and remotely powered, allowing the use of a different prime mover.
There are also methods of triggering the alarm should a parked vehicle be moved illegally; an optional radiocontrolled attachment can be linked to the driver's bleeper and will alert him within 1.5km of the vehicle.
Armoramp can also be attached to GRP roofs, side and door panels. The complete system will be demonstrated in London on a Star-bodied BRS Rental vehicle in September.
