Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

/ Eight months after its preview at last year's Smithfield Show, Daihatsu's long-awaited Fourtrak pickup has finally gone on sale in the UK — but it will only be available with a diesel engine.

The new 2.53-tonne GVW Fourtrak commercial has an 890kg payload, with a driver on board, and can also pull a fullybraked trailer up to 2.9 tonnes maximum gross weight.

Power for the Fourtrak pickup is provided by Daihatsu's own 2,765cm3 four

cylinder, naturally-aspirated, indirect-injection diesel, which delivers 54kW (72hp) at 3,600rpm, and has a peak torque of 170Nm (125Ibft) at 2,200rpm. Although Daihatsu was initially expected to import both petrol and diesel Fourtrak pickups, the company now says it will supply its latest commercial model only with a diesel power unit.

The 2.8m-wheelbase Fourtrak pickup comes equipped with a five-speed gearbox and a two-speed transfer case as standard, together with free-wheeling front hubs and a full-length canvas tilt with frame.

In common with most other Japanese-built 4x4s, it has leaf spring suspension all round, with front disc brakes and drum units on the rear. Its minimum ground clearance is 225mm.

The all-steel loadbed on the Daihatsu pickup has an internal length of 1,800mrn while its width is 1,460mm. Height of the cargo box, which has rope hooks as standard, is 400mm.

With its price tag of £8,299 plus VAT, the boxy Daihatsu pickup sits neatly between the current 2.5 litre naturallyaspirated diesel Land Rover 90 and 110 pickups, which cost £7,962 and 28,996 respectively. It is, however, slightly more expensive than the Toyota 4x4 diesel pickup, which is priced at £8,159.

Power-assisted steering is available on the Fourtrak as an optional extra for £250. The latest Fourtrak pickup is covered by Daihatsu's eightyear anti-corrosion warranty.
