AN AUTOMATIC toll collecti system will be introduced at t Wallasey-Liverpool Mersey Tt nel at the beginning of Augu with the Birkenhead-Liverpc Tunnel following three mont later.

Under the new system the will be "change" and "n change" lanes and in the " change" lanes 50p, 20p, 10p, I 2p and 1p coins will be placed a basket to activate the barr automatically.

These will at. matically deduct the toll fr the card and return it display the remaining value.

Magnetic cards for the Birk head Tunnel will again be isst at the appropriate time dur the conversion to replace tick' Merseyside County Council s tickets for both tunnels will main available for a further months for lorries and ot commercial vehicles.
