ITALY and Britain have agreed to an immediate increase in road haulage permits between the two countries and to a relaxation in permit requirements from next year.
There is to be an immediate 18 per cent increase in the general quota to 13,000 and the cooperation quota will be doubled to 1,000 permits. The International Road Freight Office will contact operators with details.
From January 1 next year, permits will cease to be required for non-quota traffic for Italy, but will still be required, where appropriate, for transit journeys across France and West Germany.
