Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

SALES of Peugeot and Talbot diesel cars in the first half of 1983 are up by 81 per cent over the corresponding period last year.

During the first six months of 1982, the group sold 1,208 cars compared with 2,189 for the equivalent period this year. Peugeot-Talbot regards this as a "big breakthrough," especially as many new diesel-powered cars have been launched on to the market.

The best performance was achieved by the Peugeot 305 at 1,199 registrations followed by the Talbot Horizon at 545.

A Peugeot-Talbot spokesman told CM that diesels are now taking one to three per cent of the total car market.
