THREE CHANGES have been made to rules governing British crews driving through some non-EEC countries in Europe.
The changes bring the rules closer to those which apply within the EEC. They include the use of an EEC-type tachograph that may be used as an alternative to manual records; an exemption for drivers using the tachos from the distance limits for unaccompanied driving which affects heavy non-rigid vehicles; and the acceptance of ferries and trains as a break to the daily rest period if the vehicle is carried on it.
These rules apply in all EEC countries, Austria, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Norway, Portugal, the Soviet Union, Spain, Sweden and Yugoslavia.
