VT1CKERS-ARMSTRONGS LTD. are now V known to be fitting air-cushion equipment to a low-loader trailer for CEGB so that the heavy power-station equipment can be routed over bridges at present too weak for normal wheeled transport. The air cushion created (by blowers on a separate vehicle) beneath the skirt fitted around the trailer bed will transfer load from the trailer wheels and spread it over a much wider area.
