hen can a bus pass save you from being beaten up? Answer, when you use it to pretend you are a policeman.
That's exactly what a student did when he saw someone about to be hit on the head with a brick by muggers in Birmingham city centre. Without a moment's thought, he rushed over, flashing the pass and shouting: "l'm a special constable!"
A police chief later said that had it not been for the student's intervention it could have been a case of murder: now the quick-witted student is being nominated for a bravery award.
