Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Trailer manufacturer Crane Fruehauf has won a £1.6m order from Brewliners to convert more than 200 12-metre tandem-axle curtainsiders to triaxle units by the end of April.

The move to a tri-axle suspension allows Brewliners, now part of the Courage group, to prepare for 40-tonne operations and run with two-axle tractive units. Until now all Brewliner artics have been 3+2s.

The conversion involves relocating the rear axle, leaving the previously leading axle in its existing position and adding another axle in front. CF will also add new rubbing plates with twin-position king-pins, and extra reinforcing cross braces. Like their two-axle predecessors, the tri-axle curtainsiders will have full air suspension. The conversions are being carried out by CF branches at Dereham, Whitburn, Ossett, Immingham and Pontypool.
