Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• SELNEC PTE's proposal to operate an executive commuter coach service from Hale Barns, Cheshire to Manchester, is likely to prove contentious when it comes before the Traffic Commissioners in Manchester. An objection has already been lodged to the SELNEC application by Godfrey Abbott Motor Tours, of Timperley, who also intend to enter a counter application to operate the service from Hale Barns.

Mr. Anthony Roberts, assistant traffic manager of Godfrey Abbott Tours, told CM that his firm considered itself to be the existing operator and was entitled to run any new service. Godfrey Abbott Tours already operated three executive services, said Mr. Roberts. one to the ICI offices in Blackley, one from Middleton to the Geigy works in Heald Green and one to Radbroke Hall in Knutsford for the Nuclear Power Group.

The Executive's new trans-Lancs service from Stockport to Bolton had been acquired in what appeared to Mr. Roberts to be an unfair procedure. In his opinion the new trans-Lancs service, being run on a short-term licence, could hardly be called unforeseen.
