The accident happened on the West Coast Main Line at Bletchley, Bucks, at the height of last Friday's rush hour. The driver of the vehicle, who scrambled up the bank to raise the alarm, escaped with minor injuries.

Rail services between London and Birmingham were left crippled following the accident. Power supplies were cut and a train with 40 passengers on board was left stranded after the crash.
