IN According to the European Commission, if an individual—or a company—based in one European Union country wants to buy a vehicle from a franchised dealer in another EU country for his own use, then the dealer cannot refuse to supply that vehicle. That of course presupposes that the purchaser has the necessary funds available.
Nor can the dealer refuse to supply an intermediary—an independent dealer, for example—if that intermediary can produce an order for that vehicle from a customer.
Refusal would in both cases be a breach of EU competition regulations, the EC says.
