Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The KPMG report classifies truck manufacturers into three types:

II The Specialist—a niche player, concentrating on specific market segments, focusing on a distinct corporate image and core strengths. KPMC cites Scania as an example,

• The Generalist—concentrating on economies of scale, with a broad customer base, a comprehensive product portfolio and active in several markets. Both Iveco and MAN are said to be generalists.

• The System Offerer—with complete product and service coverage, strong market penetration and the ability to offset losses in one area with gains in another. The report uses DaimlerChrysler as an example.

But the report isn't always so general; it also discusses the specific strengths and weaknesses of the manufacturers. Iveco, for example, is described as having ''strong positioning in growth markets and aftermarket service fields" but it is criticised for its "weak product line-up", while DaimlerChrysler is said to have "high list prices".
