Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• I veco Ford has boosted its mid-range tractive units by uprating its six-cylinder 13.8 litre power unit.

The engine changes, revealed earlier this year by Commercial Motor (CM 5-11 April), coincide with some badging alterations, which see the TEC range re-named Tun boTech — the TurboStar lineup keeps its title.

The uprated diesel, which is fitted to the 4x2 190.36 and 6x2 220.36 TurboTechs, and the 190.36 TurboStar available in two-axle and tag-axle form), gets 4.7% more power and 1.5% more torque, and is claimed to be around 5% more fuel efficient.

Its outputs (to EEC 88/195) are now 281kW (377hp) at 1,800rpm and 1,800Nm (1,328 lbft) at 1,000rprn. The extra power (and lower emissions) come from changes to the injection system, pistons and combustion chamber, while other modifications are said to improve noise levels.

Along with the TurboTech badge, the smaller lveco cab also gets minor interior and exterior trim changes which take it closer to the TurboStar.
