• Intertrail Contracts has increased its share of the contract hire market with three new deals.
The contracts follow last year's decision to cut the rental fleet by two-thirds.
Intertrail has won a Elm three-year deal with Geest for seven extra ERF tractive units: three such units have been working for the company for the past year.
A five-year contract has been signed with Vibroplant for four Volvo 17-tonners and a 21.5m three-year deal has been won with Keynsham Transport Services for 12 Scania 38-tonners.
Contract hire now accounts for 75% of Intertrairs business.
"We reduced the short-term fleet from 300 to 100 vehicles at the right time, before the used vehicle market dis
appeared," says managing director John Goodreid. He predicts his <27m turnover will increase by £2m this year.
Goodreid is still investing in short-term rental with a 2360,000 replacement vehicle order for six Seddon Atkinsons and three Leyland Daf 38tonners.
