Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Grain transport • Permethrin smoke pellets are recommended as the most economic method of treating lorries that have carried infested grain.

This recommendation is in a new code of practice drawn up by the United Kingdom Agricultural Supply Trade Association (UKASTRA), the Road Haulage Association and the Agricultural Development and Advisory Service (ADAS) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.

A second option is to spray all the interior surfaces of the lorry and sheet with pesticide formulations labelled for use in grain stores.

These measures should avoid the cross-infestation of grain and the spread of insects. More details on the code of practice are available from UKASTA on 01-930 3611.
