• Japan's total production of trucks in the first half of this year amounted to 2,254,329 (1985: 2.29 million), according to figures released by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association. Of these, 697,818 were what it calls standardsize trucks, 811,140 were small and 745,371 "midgets". Exports came to 1,101,458, but only 6,139 were midgets.
Bus production during these six months came to 22,840 — of these, 14,863 were exported.
Truck producers are led by Toyota with just over half a million, followed by five above 200,000: Suzuki, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Daihatsu and Mazda.
