Hylomar sealing compound is now available in tubes or aerosol cans. It remains plastic and so does not crack through joint movement and because it remains soft, care can be taken to ensure that the joint is correctly made. Further, joints can be easily broken without the need for chisels or other tools. Hylomar is claimed to remain effective at temperatures be tween minus 60°C and plus 350°C and is resistant to dery and petrol and their exhaust products and mineral oil, water, water! glycol, water/methanol and fluorocarbon refrigerants.
