Improved serviceability of the front brakes. Increased fuel tank capacity.
Turbo 360 engine provides: 150 bhp, 349 lb-ft torque—over 10% more power than the average of major competitive engines.
Great durability—heavy-duty components and low piston speeds ensure long, trouble-free life.
Outstanding fuel economy—in addition to the higher output. This is due to lower rpm and good breathing.
Quietness—increased through-put of air and new exhaust design make Turbo 360 extremely quiet.
Cleanliness—more complete combustion minimises smoke emission. Extremely competitive low-kerb-weight 16-tonner, providing big payload benefits on every trip.
Startling value—for a lot less money, the new Turbo 360 Dl 000 models have extremely comprehensive specifications, including the same 5-speed gearboxes and axles used with the heavier Cummins V8s.
Power-to-weight ratios are among the highest anywhere.
D1000 Turbo 360 trucks and tippers are the finest profit-making proposition for any operator looking for vehicles of this payload and power range.
...and profit-making D1000 chassis improvements
In addition to the availability of the powerful Turbo 360 engine in D1000 truck and tipper models, all new D1000s, including artics, embody major chassis improvements. This enables dealers to tailor the new D1000 even more closely to each operator's individual requirements.
There are now seven 11)1000 wheelbase lengths available: 114-in on artics, and from 128-into 226-in on trucks and tippers. The new 226-in wheelbase enables a full 24-ft body to be fitted which has excellent weight distribution. On rigids, frame depth is increased from 10. 63-in to 12.00-in. To make brake servicing faster and easier, the front drums can now be removed without disturbing the hub. A stiffer backplate is also incorporated.
A heavy-duty beam is standard on the new 15,700 lb wide-track front axle. Front wheel bearing sizes have been increased. On D1000 truck models, for operators who want increased operational range, the fuel tank capacity is increased from 40 to 50 gallons.
The short length of the D Series cab is a major advantage: it means greater body length relative to an overall length or a shorter vehicle for any given float length—with big benefits in payload and manoeuvrability.
There is a choice of six axle ratios on the new models; three on the singlespeed axle, and three on the 2-speed.
