I hear that the BMC Drivers' Club is to be wound up shortly. While this seems to be a result of the BLMC merger, to the extent that the final decision was a high-level one stemming from group policy, the closure comes as no great surprise. Only recently the Bedford Drivers' Club was discontinued.
It is just a sign of the times, I suppose. Running any kind of club is an expensive business these days, and companies in all fields are becoming more critical in assessing the return from any particular activity. But however inevitable, the fading out of these clubs brings a touch of sadness.
