Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A demonstration was staged on Tuesday of the Velvet Ride bogie suspension by the Holset Engineering Co. Ltd. A journey of some 15 miles was covered in a six-wheeled Dodge 17ft 6in.-wheelbase tipper. The vehicle was driven over second-class roads at fairly high speeds, writes Ron Cater, and despite the fact that I chose to ride standing in the offside rear corner of the body, there was no undue jarring from road shocks.

Later in the demonstration the vehicle was taken over an unmade road where shock recording equipment failed to record shocks of greater than lg acceleration. As there were pot holes up to 9in.-deep in this section of the course the results, I thought, were extremely good.

One of the most impressive features in the handling of the vehicle was an almost complete absence of roll on corners.

The suspension assembly weighs approximately 9501b and is expected to cost as original equipment £290. It is available at present as a 16-ton capacity unit but will later be put on the market with a capacity of 20 tons.
