• An appeal to delay the setting-up of the Tyneside Passenger Transport Authority for a year which was made by Newcastle upon Tyne traffic, highways and transport cornmittee has been rejected by the Transport Ministeir, Mr. Richard Marsh, In a letter, he said that there were decisive considerations why the transfer of municipal undertakings should take place next year as planned and that further delays would be bad for management.
The committee chairman, CIIr. Neville Trotter, said he was very disappointed with the Minister's letter and all the arguments put forward over the past year against the take-over of the city's Om. 350-vehicle bus fleet had been ignored.
