• The Road Transport Industry Training Board announces that it is now able to accept nominations for vacancies on the training courses to be held at the Board's first MOTEC (Multi-Occupational Training and Education Centre) which will be opened in October. As the initial courses listed below will be of a pilot nature, the Board will not make any charge for training. Employers will, however, be able to claim training grants which should more than compensate for the wages of staff taking part in these courses.

Initially, the Board will he running five different types of training courses, ranging in length from one week to six months. The courses are for: driving instructors-6 two-week courses Auto electricians-1 six-month course Forecourt salesmen-3 one-week courses Furniture removals porters-1 two-week course Furniture removals instructors-2 two-week courses Accommodation and food will be free but

until the 100-room residential facility is completed by the end of 1968, accommodation is somewhat limited. Therefore, some trainees will have to attend these first courses on a non-residential basis. By early 1969, the Board will be running a much wider range of courses.

This first MOTEC is situated at High Ercall in Shropshire and while it is intended to use it to meet local needs. the Centre will at first be available on a national basis.
