Links with Europe' DR. BEECHING. chairman of British Railways, Mr. H. W. Elliott, member of the E.R.S. council and managing director of B.R.S. (Pick fords) Ltd., and Mr. J. A. International Group, arc to be members of a 'Rail and Road" panel to take part in an Export Council for Europe conference to be held in London on November 11-12. Eastern Regional Board.

The theme of the conference is to be: "Transport—Our Links with Europe and it is to be divided into five sessions under the headings: Rail and Road; Ports and Customs; Sea; Air, Airports and Customs: and Summing Up—which will be by Sir Norman Kipping, directorgeneral of the Federation of British Industries. A users panel will also be taking part, led by Sir Leslie Rowan, managing director of Vickers Ltd., comprising Mr. N. J. Freeman, managing director of Imperial Chemicals Insurance Ltd.; Mr. A. R. B. Poison, transport manager of C, A. Parsons and Co. Ltd.; Mr. E. G. Whitaker, chairman of tha Central Transport Consultative Committee and transport adviser to Unilever Ltd.; and possibly further eminent transport executives.

The start of each session will take the form of a discussion between the two panels representing providers and users of transport; this will be followed by a general discussion open to all delegates.

Delegates will be invited to attend the conference and will be selected from transport bodies and associations, from Government departments, industry and the Press. Resolutions passed will laa referred to the appropriate Government departments.

The conference will be opened at 2.30 p.m. on November II by Sir William McFadzcan, chairman of the Export Council.
