ACITY police constable was cornlimented on the presentation of his case, and on his technical and legal knowledge, by counsel for the Board and by Alderman Sir W. Phene Neal, when, on Monday, a bus driver and London Transport were summoned in connection with the emission of smoke from a London bus, The case was heard at the Mansion House Justice .Room.

The constable alleged that clouds of blue and black smoke were emitted from the vehicle, and, in his opiniOn, were due to slackness of piston rings. The bus driver declared that he did not notice the emission of smoke. Mr_ Leslie J. F. Rose, assistant rollingstock superintendent to the Board, stated that the vehicle, which was an oiler, was well within the usual standard of maintenance, and that there was no exceptional discharge of smoke.

The case was adjourned -until Monday next.

On Wednesday night, the last of Warrington Corporation's tramcars were abandoned, and were replaced by motorbuses.
