The engine is of the non-compressor, four-stroke type. No ignition in the ordinary sense of the term is provided, this being automatically effected on the Diesel principle, a detonating cartridge being used to secure the initial starting. The engine drives the rear differential axle through a plate clutch, threespeed gearbox and bevel gearing, the differential shafts driving the rear wheels through gearwheels mounted on their outer ends.

The weight of the tractor in running order is given as 3 tons 6 cwt., of which 2 .tons 611; cwt. is on the rear axle and 19-i cwt. on the front axle.
