Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The serious drain upon the finances of the Cardiff Royal Infirmary by the reception and treatment of patients injured in motor-vehicle accidents has resulted in the decision to advance a scheme for presentation to the Ministries of Health and Transport by hospital authorities. If adopted this will ensure reimbursement to hospitals of sums expended in treatment of such cases.

Whereas in 1913 only two persons were received into the Cardiff Infirmary for treatment as a result of motorvehicle accidents, in 1926 the number of such patients was 152 and this year it has already risen to 270. The cost of treatment in 1926 was £2,300, and this year it is estimated to amount to £4,000. In 1926 only £134 was recovered by the hospital in voluntary subscription* front grateful patients and hospitals cannot claim for the recovery of their expe'nditure. The proposals now to be put trward are that the hospitals shall be reimbursed from the Road Fund, or, if as is likely, this Fund cannot he " tapped " for this purpose, that the vehicle insurance clauses in the Traffic Bill shall be amended so as to guarantee money for hospital treatment to victims of road accidents. This, of course, would, if adopted, mean dearer insurance policies, but it is contended that such increase would be small in relation to the benefits accruing to the public and to the hospitals.

Brush Bus Bodies.

The Brush Electrical Engineering Co., Ltd., Falcon Works, Lotighborough; has recently issued a leaflet which indicates the various types of bus body that this company is in a position to construct. Single-deckers and doubledeckers are illustrated, some of the latter having covered tops and being suitable for mounting on six-wheeled chassis. The examples which are illustrated are typical of the wide range of bodies produced in the company's works.
