Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Some slight alterations will be made this year in the organization of the Liverpool motor parade, which is held annually under the auspices of the Commercial Motor Users' Association. The main basis of classification is (1) haulage contractors ; (2) firms other than haulage contractors and (3) nonmembers.

The Liverpool Area Committee has decided to improve the system for the awarding of marks to vehicles, and has adopted the method which has worked so efficiently at Manchester and Preston. Thus each juel,ge will confine his attention to a particular part of each vehicle, and the collective adjudications of the judges will determine the order of merit. The fleet classes of both steam and petrol machines will be open to all members, • whether haulage contractors or not, but in the single-vehicle classes haulage contractors and members whose principal business is other than that of haulage contractors will compete separately in two divisions. , Four silver challenge cups are amongst the prizes for competition. No machine delivered later than December 31st last will be eligible. The parade takes place on October 1st.

Leeds Co-operative Traffic.

The Leeds Co-operative Society has a traffic department which did work to the amount of £6,150 for the productive departments and £24,708 for ,the distributive departments in the past halfyear. The receipts also included £1,327 in connection with the use of coaches and the undertaking of removals work. On the other side of the accounts, wages absorbed £23,861 and petrol and oil £2,880. During the six months £6;246 was expended on the purchase of new' commercial motors.

Motors Owned by Railways.

According to the railway returns for 1926, lately issued by the Ministry of Transport, the various railway undertakings in the United Kingdom owned between them 282 passenger road motors and 2,501 parcels and goods vehicles. Of horses, the number still hi use has fallen to 18,481.

Debt on a Toll Bridge. Bournemouth Corporation has considered a letter from the Southbourne Ratepayers' Association urging that Tuckton Bridge should be made free from tolls. As there is still a debt of £11,731 on Tuckton Bridge, the council cannot agree to the tolls being abolished. I321
