Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The Belgian military authorities propose, in the near future, to organize a trial of motor tractors capable of doing the work hitherto performed by horses in the artillery division of the army.

The trial will not be held this year owing to the fact that the Belgian Government is not . able in the 1927 Budget to appropriate the necessary money for the Purchase of a number of the successful machines.

One of _the points which will be taken into consideration is the weight of the vehicles, which must be such as to afford the necessary adhesion on difficult land and be sufficiently low to enable the machines to pass over military-built temporary bridges. Other points that will be taken into consideration are accessibility of the main components and the facility with which the machines can be driven by ordinary soldiers. Mak,ers will be free to submit machines ei:her of the wheel or chain-track type.

Municipal Bus Managers' Duties.

The district auditor, in his report some time ago on the finances of the . bus undertaking of the Merthyr Tydfil • Corporation, commented on the desirability of the accountancy of municipal birs undertakings being part of the duties ' of municipal treasurers, or separate accountants, and not the reepodsibility of bus-service managers, who mainly possess technical and engineering qualifications.

Mr. D. F. Ades-, the lierthyr bus manager, has now urged the council to act in accord with this reeommendatios and absolve him from the duties of

accountancy. In supporting this request the council remarked that it was as unreasonable to expect a bus manager to do accountancy work in detail as to expect the accountant to advise on engineering problems. Arrangements are to be made in line with the auditor's suggestion.

Footballers and ROad Travel.

At a meeting recently held at Lytham, the football clubs of Lancashire decided, in view of the refusal of the railway companies to run special dining cars for football clubs, to travel by road to their matches on all grounds within about 50 miles from headquarters. Some of the clubs already have their own conveyances in which players are taken reasonably short distances and it is possible that other clubs will consider the purchase of such vehicles.
