A THREE-DAY conference on road transport training arranged by the European Institute for Vocational Training opened in London on Tuesday with delegations from Common Market countries including speakers from the RTITI3.
Some important themes emerged from the opening discussions. Driver training in the context of the recession has focused on particular aspects of professional haulage, own-account and inter-continental operations as well as training for mechanics and fleet engineers. Particular stress has been directed at the need for more professional training for the proprietors and managers of small and medium sized haulage companies. A full report of this significant conference will appear in CM next week.
