Ltd., has been appointed chairman of Self-Changing Gears Ltd., a Leyland subsidiary. Mr. A. Gordon Wilson, who is 60, has relinquished his position of managing director of Self-Changing Gears and has retired.
Included in appointments made at the annual general meeting of the Scottish division of the Traders Road Transport Association earlier this month were Mr. R. G. Torrance (Smith and Wellstood Ltd.), chairman; Mr. F. A. Buist (Clyde Tyres Ltd.), Mr. W. T. Fairbairn (Scottish and Newcastle Breweries Ltd.) and Mr. R. Lawson jnr. (Lawsons (Dyce) Ltd.), vice-chairmen.
Mr. Robert Stevenson and Mr. John S. Andrews have been appointed directors of Ford of Britain, following organizational changes within the company: They replace Mr. J. S. Bugas and Mr. T. Lilley.
Mr. F. R. Cowell, Mr. P. J. Green and Mr. K. W. Tantlinger have retired from the board of Crane Fruehauf Trailers Ltd. and its subsidiaries, Mr. J. B. Hargreaves, assistant traffic manager of Crosville Motor Services Ltd., has been promoted to traffic manager with effect from May 1.
Mr. T. BracegirdIe has been elected chairman of the Manchester and District Centre of the Institute of Traffic Ad ministration.
Included in the officers elected for the ensuing year in sub-areas of the Northern area of the Road Haulage Association were: _Bishop Auckland—Mr. C. Ranaldi (Ranaldi Transport Services Ltd.), chairman.. Mr. J. Crowther and Mr. D. Robinson, vice-chairmen. Morpeth and North Northumberland—Mr. A. Hewitt (R. T. and 3. Hewitt Ltd.), chairman, Mr. ll. Moody (D. Moody (Haulage) Ltd.) and Mr. J. Elliott, vice-chairmen.
Mr. F. E. Farrier,. who has been superintendent of the Deal depot of East Kent Road Car Co. Ltd. since 1952, retires this week. Mr. Farrier joined the company in 1920.–He will be succeeded as superintendent by Mr. A. E. Parreft.
Mr. G. F. Pulfrey, general manager of Hull Corporation Transport since 1941, is to retire later this year after 50 years in public transport. He started his career at Sheffield, moving to Nottingham and then St. Helens before going to Hull.

Mr. E. M. Shaw (Amalgamated Roadstone Corporation Ltd.) has been elected chairman of the Devon and Cornwall division of the Traders Road Transport Association for 1965-6, with Mr. A. A. J. Watson (Watson Tyre Service Ltd.) and Mr. W. V. Jenkins (John Westcott Ltd.) vice-chairmen.
The Minister of Transport has
appointed Mr. Anthony Bull as vice-chairman of London Transport Board, to succeed Mr. A. H.
Grainger, who is to retire next September. The appointment win be effective from October 1. Mr. Bull joined the Underground group of companies in 1929 and after the last war became chief staff and welfare officer of the former LPT Board. in 1955 he became a member of the former London Transport Executive and in 1962 a member of the LTB. He is vice-president of the Institute of Transport.

Mr. A. Gurley, at present rolling stock engineer of Bradford City Transport, has been appointed chief engineer of the company, with effect from June 1, in succession to Mr. R. E. H. Braithwaite, Valliant Get Four-day Dutch Tours: The Metropolitan Traffic Commissioner, in a reserved decision, has granted the four-day Dutch tours applied for last week by Valliant Direct Coaches Ltd. (see last week's issue). However, the tours granted will be in lieu of the existing two-day tours and not additional to, as applied for. At elections of the London and Horn Counties division of the Traders Roa Transport Association, Mr. D. H. boy( (Shell-Mex and BP Ltd.) succeeded MI G. F. Page as chairman. Mr. H. / Phillips (George Cohen 600 Grou Ltd.) and Mr. L. A. Castieton (Meta Box Co. Ltd.) were re-elected vice chairmen and Mr. H. J. Cavanagh (Py Ltd.) was elected a vice-chairman.

Mr. Sharp was one of the pioneers o modern materials handling. methods ant played a major part in forming tht Institute of Materials Handling, of whicl he was a past-president and a counci member. He was a partner in Lansim Bagnall Ltd.
Mr. Willmott was founder of tin family haulage business established it 1919, Willmott's Transport (Wells) Ltd. Somerset. He retired because of it health some four years ago and was 69
