AN extra £1,039,000 revenue per annum will be obtained by Glasgow :jorporation transport department if proposals to increase fares, approved by the :ransport committee, are implemented. This must be set against an estimated loss of £470,000 in the current finaneial year, and £939,000 in the financial year starting in June.
Higher fares on buses and trolleybuses will mean the minimum fare being raised from 3d. to 4d. and the maximum beima raised from 10d. to Is. Concessionary fares for elderly people will be increased from Id. to 2d., and fares on the underground railway will also be raised. An application in respect of the increased bus and trolleybus fares will be heard by the Scottish Traffic Commissioners on May 6.
