JAR-REACHING claims for higher L pay and better conditions for London busmen are to be presented to the London Transport Board next Wednesday. The precise form of the claim has still to be hammered out by the men's negotiating committee. But it will consist of a mixture of some or all of seven points.

Top of the list is a demand for a 10 per cent pay rise. This may be changed to the usual—and vaguer—call for a " substantial " rise, so as to give themselves greater manceuvrability, particularly in A22 view of the new claim just submitted by the underground men.

Other points are a demand for a shorter working day, fOr an improved bonus scheme, for extra pay for work done over the three-day Christmas period, additional holiday pay, payment of time and a half for night duty and payment for the 40-minute meal relief.

Some of these points are expected to be shelved for the time being to allow greater concentration on the remainder. Even so, they will be far in excess of what London Transport will feel able to offer at this time and a long period of haggling appears to be in prospect.
