THE old-established family haulage

business of Hamblins Suppliers Ltd., Leicester, has been acquired by the Pointer Group of Norwich, already the largest operator in this field in the Eastern Counties.

Mr. R. S. Hamblin and Mr. C. W. York remain as directors and will continue to run the Leicester undellaking. They will be joined on the board by Mr. P. H. Pointer and Mr. T. I. Williamson, of Pointer Group Holdings Ltd.

Hamblins operate a fleet of more than 50 vehicles, ranging from tippers to 75-ton low-loaders. The business has been developed along general haulage lines, and one of the specialities of lb firm is heavy haulage. There are tw depots—one at Abbey Lane, Leiceste and the other at Hathern.

Amalgamation of Hamblins' fleet wit] the present Pointer vehicles will produc a joint fleet of more than 450 operatinl from nearly 20 depots throughou England. This will be backed by : Continental trailer service for exPansiot of haulage activities in Europe. Benefit of operation are expected from co-ordina tion of the fleets and the base in Leicestei will be used by Pointers to introduct other group activities to the industrial Midlands.
