With a capacity of 4 cubic yds., an all-steel-bodied power-hydraulic tipper, equipped with 34 by 7 tyres, having five forward speeds and weighing under
50 6t., is now available. It comprises a Dodge Major 4-5-ton chassis and a B. and E. end-tipping body.
The former, a product of Dodge Brothers (Britain), Ltd., Mortlake Road, Kew . Gardens, Surrey, has a 112-in, wheelbase arida 28 hp six-cylindered erighae,.whilst"the latter is made by Broinilow and Edwards, Ltd., Mansfield Road, Western Avenue, Acton, London, W.3.
Features of the B. and E. tipping gear, which embodies the company's latest improvements, include a full universal joint at the ram base, a welded steel oil container, a simplified oil-piping system and a valve control situated within the driver's cab. Electric welding is employed throughout in the construction of the steel body.
Neither strength nor efficiency has been sacrificed in designing and building this equipment, and it has, we understand, been subjected to exhaustive tests under working conditions. Together, the body and power-hydraulic tipping apparatus weigh no more than Si cwt.
