• A growing number of hauliers in the construction industry are going under this year, warns Mick Binns of the National Owner Drivers Association.
NODA has lost 12 of its 750 members this year, compared with the usual two. Worst hit are the Thames Valley, Devon and Cornwall, says Birms, who does not expect any improvement before the beginning of next year.
Some 75% of NODA members are mixer operators, and the rest are tippermen, 40% of whom work on contract to Ready Mix Concrete.
