• A bid for additional vehicles by Cross Keys-based Gerry Jones Transport Services has succeeded after its existing fleet was certified as being in Al condition. The company applied to South Wales LA John Mervyn Pugh to increase its licence from 16 vehicles and 14 trailers to 27 vehicles and 18 trailers in June. However, the LA adjourned the application saying he was not prepared to consider it until the company's present fleet had all been certified to be in excellent condition. Its maintenance record over the past two years had been lousy.
