• Flashbacks can occur without warning on oxy-fuel gas welding and cutting systems causing damage to equipment or even gas cylinder fires.
BIG's Safeguard flashback arrestor is designed to give protection from flashbacks: the system complies with 1356158 and has been approved by the IISE for use with acetylene says its manufacturers, The Safeguard cools the flame in the normal way with a sintered filter. In the event of a stabilised fire, either inside or outside the arrestor, a spring loaded gas cut-off valve closes when the solder fuse melts. There is also a nonreturn valve to prevent backfeeding if the arrestor is subject to reverse gas pressure.
