Reefer contract
NORTHRAY Foods Ltd, of North Thoresby, Lincolnshire, has signed a five-year contract with Frigoscandia to own and operate three Volvo F86/52 six-wheel reefers in Northray livery. Specially built to Northray specification, the lorries, which have 26-foot bodies holding 12 pallets, will distribute, nationally, the Northray range of products under the control of the Frigoscandia depot at their South Kirkly store complex.
More Kompact
INTERNATIONAL freight forwarders Thomas Meadows & Co Ltd are to increase the frequency of their UK-South Africa groupage container service. It will be marketed as the Meadows Kompakt Container Service, signifying Meadows' partnership with the new grouping of international forwarders which have come together to serve the South African LCL container trade from Europe under the `Kompakt' banner.
Transit visas
DRIVERS of goods vehicles travelling to Saudi Arabia from the UK are now able to obtain multiple entry visas — valid for six months before the start of their journey — from the Saudi Arabian Embassy in London. It will not be possible to obtain visas elsewhere and applications should be made to the Saudi Consular Office, 30 Belgrave Square, London SW1, before leaving for the Middle East.
Rental boom
TRANSPORT Charter, the trailer rental arm of the York Group, is undergoing a fleet expansion programme to cope with recent increases in demand for rental vehicles. To establish a more efficient customer service network, Transport Charter becomes a division of York Truck Equipment Ltd, and trailers are now available through each of the 12 factory branches, with main rental centres at Corby and Barking.
