Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I N the annual report of Aberdeen, Corporation Transport Department, which was submitted to a meeting of the transport committee last week, it was revealed that the number of passengers carried showed an increase of nearly 3,000,000 as compared with the previous year, the respective figures being 74,282,633 and 71,321,433.

-Buses produced a total revenue of £l67,728 and the working expenses amounted to £148,421, which, after deduction of interest, sinking fund, etc., leaves a net profit of £4,915. Revenue is up by £10,608 and working expenses show an increase of £8,853. The gross profit is up by £1,755.

The total revenue from trams was £157,851, and the working expenses amounted to £124,147. After interest, sinking fund and similar charges had been deducted, there was a net profit of £4,500. Revenue is £5,285 more than a year ago, but working expenses are £7,015 greater, with the result that the gross profit shows a reduction of £1,729. Revenue from the two services —buses and trams—amounted to £325,5,79, an increase of 415,803.

The depreciation, renewal and other accounts now amount to £753,540. During the year, £53,369 has been added to the capital account for the purchase of new motorbuses, the provision of sundry plant and the extension of the Woodside track, making a total. capital expenditure of £864,190.

The bus mileage was 3,651,142, which is an increase over the-previous year Of 178,695.
