4 The Institute of Road Transport Engineers is holding. a talk on the "Recycling of Lubricants." L. Kilbourne, a technical manager with Silkolene Lubricants, is the speaker. The talk is at 7.30pm at Strathclyde University, Richmond Street, Glasgow. IRTE is covering the "Smoke Emission Problems" in a talk by R. Owen. It will be held at 8pm in the Committee Room, Surrey College of Art and Design, Farnham. It will also be holding a talk on "The Ferodo Friction Retarder." It will be given by A. Collinson of Ferodo, at 7.30pm, at Frye Social Club, Somerdale, Keynsham, Avon.
5 The Chartered Institute of Transport has two meetings scheduled for today. The first is at 12.30pm and is entitled "Express Passenger Services of NBC." It will be held at the British Rail Staff Association Club, Sheepcote Street, Birmingham and will be given by John Birks of NBC. The second meeting is called "Bus operations in Northern Ireland," and the speaker will be Werner Heubeck of Ulsterbus. It takes place at 7.30pm, the Royal Victoria Hotel, Sheffield. IRTE is giving a talk on "The Correct Drive Line for Performance and Economy." The speaker will be C. King of Eaton Ltd, and will be held at 7.30pm, at Crosville Motor Services, Sealand Road, Chester.
IRTE has planned two talks today. The first is on "Piston and Liner Fault-Diagnosis Part II." It will be given by Ken Howland of Edmunds Walker, at 7.30pm at Saracens Head, High Street, Chelmsford, Essex. The second talk concerns "Vehicle Weights and Overloading-Dynamic Axle Weighing." P. Hill of Weighwrite is the speaker and it takes place at 7.30pm at Bass Ltd, Training Centre, Wetmore Rd, Burton on Trent, Staffordshire.
CIT covers three topics today. the first is a film presentation from London Transport and British Transport archives at 7pm, Eastern National, New Writtle Street, Chelmsford. "Return by Popular Demand" is a talk given by Frank Woodworth, formerly of NBC. It takes place at 7.30pm, at the County Hotel, Canterbury.
"Monopolies Commission — its effect on transport world" is a talk to be given by J. Wadsworth of Bristol Omnibus. It will be held at 6.30pm at Bristol Omnibus, Berkeley House, Lawrence Hill, Bristol.
