HELPER or anti-roll springs are now offered by Albion Motors, Ltd., on their Claymore 7-84-ton-gross and Chieftain 101-ton-gross models. Either type of spring can be fitted to all vehicles in the two ranges, depending on operating conditions.
The two-stage helper springs are not intended to offset overloading, but are designed to reduce roll and, in most cases, to provide a better ride under light load. They are fitted to the rear axle only and would be specified for vehicles, such as pantechnicons in which the centre of gravity is high when laden. The springs are standard equipment on the Chieftain firmer chassis.
For vehicles with heavy bodies—for example, a Claymore with a van body or a Chieftain with a large cattle body— the special anti-roll springs would be fitted. These are very stiff • units with Fox-type locating clips at their eye ends and can be employed at either the rear axle alone. or at both axles.
