FOLLOWING comments -by 'Mr. Anthony Greenwood; a former Labour M.P., in a television broadcast concerning road haulage-vehicles operated under free enterprise, Mr. Edgar Williams, managing director of the Williams Brothers Group in North Wales, has taken up the challenge.
Posters with the words, A vehicle of free enterprise road transport. Anthony Greenwood, Labour M.P., says: These vehicles are not roadworthy—drivers are exploited.' Look at the vehicle! Speak to the driver! Form your own opinion," are displayed on the group's vehicles.
Mr. Williams is backed by the North Western (Western) Area of the Road Haulage Association. Other hauliers in the area supporting his action by displaying the posters include Sutton and Sons (St. Helens), Ltd., M. A. Keenan and Sons, Ltd., and Robert Armstrong and Sons, Ltd., Liverpool. In North Wales a recent meeting of the Wrexham Sub-area was unanimous in support and a large number of posters was distributed.
RENATIONALIZATION MEANS INFLATION
UNLESS there was to be confiscation without' compensation, the money required, in the event of a Socialist Government rcnationalizing the steel and road haulage industries, would go to inflate the country's economy without adding a single new lorry or steel mill to the nation's capital equipment.
Lord Hailsham made this observation at Fakenham, last week, when he challenged the Socialists to say what the cost of renationalizing the industries would be. " We do not know because they have never told us," he said.
