• The first deliveries of cut-price diesel from the recently fort Fuel Club are to he made this week.
A consignment of 10.8 million litres will arrive at Immingham will then be delivered in a fleet of tankers to hard-pressed tang firms around the country.
Co-founder Jim Wallace says that most of the fuel will be sol operators who can take deliveries of at least 30,000 litres, smaller hauliers using fuel cards to buy diesel may benefit fi the scheme indirectly.
A Middle Eastern refinery is the source of the fuel; it works cheaper to sell it on at a discount than to cut output or store sur production. The Fuel Club is part-owned by the unnamed refir and is under contract to buy more than 100 million litres of fuel a year "it's not a lot of fuel in the scheme of things but it's a large amount for us," says Wallace.
