Help! My husband and I run a small (12 vehicles, 15 employees) haulage business from our home in Preston, Lancashire. We have probably some of the best work in Lancashire, ie tip and load in the same factory two and three times a day.

Today we have received our fuel bill for September which is 213,341 more than in August for similar quantities purchased. Like other hauliers we have had no rate increases and we are sat here wondering where on earth we are going to find an extra thirteen and a half thousand pounds to pay this bill—or do we say enough is enough and wrap the whole thing up here and now?

It is heart breaking. We have put everything into keeping this business going, hoping that things will come right. We just hope we can hang on a rite longer to see if it does. Otherwise Blair will have another 17 to add to his unemployment figures and one homeless family to re-house. Tracy Fawcett,

Bye-mail.
