• MPs are demanding tighter control of livestock exports. This follows a Sunday Times report alleging that 557 lambs en route from Scotland to France were without food or water for 34 hours.
The report also claims that live sheep are illegally being exported to Spain — there is a ban on such movements because the Spanish slaughtering methods are considered too cruel.
