Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

QAs international hauliers we send approximately 14 vehicles with groupage to Europe each week. Over the past few months my drivers have reported an increased interest by the French police in our paperwork and also in tachographs, in some cases resulting in onthe-spot fines.

Why can't we have fixed penalty notices for tachograph offences in this country?

ST, Huddersfield AIt would certainly be sensible to have a FPN of, say, £100 for hours law off ences and, say, 250 for minor offences such as mode switch etc, with, perhaps an endorsable FPN for falsification with the ability for the prosecution to go for the operator, if complicity could be proven.

However, there would probably be no parliamentary time for such legislation for a number of years.
