The Falkirk-based coachmilding company accounts for ibout 25% of Alexander's £100 nillion turnover and, although klexander would prefer to sell he group as a whole, Plaxton s not thought to be interested n Alexander's non-vehicle )usiness.

Plaxton, which bought French coachbuilder Carrosserie Lorrains last year, has been looking for more coachbuilders. The company virtually doubled its turnover to around £500 million in June by snapping up the Henly Vehicle Group. 111 Arlington Motor Company, the London-based bus and coach dealer, may become part of the Plaxton group. Negotiations are believed to be underway between Plaxton and Wincanton Group, Arlington's parent company. It is not thought that the Brimsdown, Enfield premises would form part of any deal.
