New coat for Mark Baker

• A new role for Mark Baker at Sikkens paint manufacturer Akzo Coatings is to develop a business plan to build Akzo's presence in the commercial vehicle market.

He has been mostly in the car refinish market since 1974.

Baker worked for Sikkens Market Support Centre before moving two years ago to distributor Grove. Now he will be involved with bodybuilders and fleet operators, product development and distribution.

Akzo has also appointed refinish sales managers in the Midlands — Phil Clow — and the North — Phil Whittaker. Clow has been brought up among refinishers: both his grandfather and father have run a bodyshop. Whittaker was a technical sales representative for Akzo and then managed the MSC in Leeds. His past position was at Minden Industrial.
