• First-day dealings in Hays shares were disappointing because of a nervous stock market, says communications co-ordinator David Beckley.
The shares began trading at 98p and closed at 101p — 4p below the issue price.
Hays chairman Ronnie Frost had hoped to float the shares at around 140p. But Beckley says: "We are confident the value of Hays will be recognised in the future."
